Adam Gotsis is an Australian-born American football defensive end for the Denver Broncos. He was drafted by the Broncos in the second round (63rd overall) in the 2016 NFL Draft and became the highest-drafted Australian-born player in NFL history! On May 26, 2016, the Broncos announced that they had signed Gotsis to a four-year contract.
Gotsis was born in Melbourne, Australia to parents of Greek heritage, he was raised in the suburb of Abbotsford. He grew up playing Australian rules football before joining a local junior American football club, the Monash Warriors. He progressed through the local ranks and eventually represented the Australian National Gridiron team at the IFAF World Championship in December 2011. He then went on to represent Australia in the IFAF World Team vs USA.
A month later, Gotsis signed to play college football for Georgia Tech and arrived in Atlanta in July 2012. He spent four years playing college football for the Yellow Jackets football team and he graduated from Georgia Tech with a degree in Business Administration in December 2015.
Adam's 4 year rookie contract with the Denver Broncos will end at the completion of the 2019 season and he will hope to have a "career" year this season to improve his value heading into free agency.
Gotsis would like to remain with the team beyond the 2019 season. “I’d love to be here,” Gotsis said to Bronco's Wire. “This is the place that drafted me. They obviously wanted me here. I’ve loved my time here and I just want to keep going out and playing hard for this team and all the guys in this locker room. That’s who it’s for. That’s all going to take care of itself at the end of the year for me.”
As always, we will be avidly watching the Broncos, and Adam, during the upcoming season and wish Adam a fantastic 2019!
