Gridiron Australia Approved by Australian Sports Commission to Introduce Flag Football to Schools Nationwide

Gridiron Australia is proud to announce that they have been approved by the Australian Sports Commission to deliver Flag Football as part of the Sporting Schools Program.
This initiative, in partnership with Bring it on Sports, a leading sports education provider, has been approved by the Australian Sports Commission and will be launched as part of the Sporting Schools Program commencing Term 3, 2024.
Jamie Bradnam, Director of Sporting Schools said “We are very excited that Gridiron Australia will be joining Sporting Schools in Term 3 this year. We think that their flag football program will be a popular choice for schools and look forward to seeing the sport grow in the community.”
Flag Football, the newest Olympic sport set to feature at the LA 2028 games, offers students an engaging and inclusive introduction to American Football. Through this program, students will develop teamwork, strategy, and physical fitness skills in a dynamic and enjoyable environment.
“This is a huge milestone for our sport. Since the announcement that Flag Football will become an Olympic sport at LA28, we have inundated with boys and girls wanting to join their local league. So we are absolutely thrilled to partner with the Australian Sports Commission’s Sporting Schools program, to deliver Flag football right across Australia, via Bring it on Sports.” said Wade Kelly, CEO of Gridiron Australia. “We can’t wait to see every boy and girl in Australia having the chance to experience the fun and excitement of one of the world’s most popular sports in Flag Football.”
Paul Manera, co-director of Bring it on Sports, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, “We are thrilled to see that Gridiron Australia has been approved by the Australian Sports Commission and are very excited to be partnering with them to deliver Flag Football through Sporting Schools to Australian schools. This collaboration will provide greater opportunities for the sport to be experienced by many more students and schools throughout the country.”
Australian teachers will be able to apply for Term 3 funding for Sporting Schools Flag Football from 20 May 2024 and if successful, will be able to book either coach-delivered or teacher-led programs.
